Reflection, September 2007:
GIVING
TOGETHER, HERE, AS A COMMUNITY
The Outreach Committee (formerly known as Social Concerns Committee)
was started in 1985 by the Parish Council. It supports one of our parish's
five core missions: reaching out to the needy in this world.
The function of the Committee is to evaluate and choose the groups to
support with funds from the parish. Each of the organizations comes to
committee meetings on a regular basis to describe their needs and activities
in detail and submits a written report with specific information about
how they function, their future plans and an accounting of their funding.
Members of the Committee also make site visits.
In 2007, the Outreach Committee distributed $50,100 thanks to your generosity:
$15,00 came from the general collections and a total of $35,100 came from
the three second collections held last year plus individual donations.
