We usually meet monthly on the second Tuesday, excluding July. Contact: Edward Beatson The St. Monica Shoes-That-Fit program is an extensive outreach activity that provides shoes and other new articles of school clothing to impoverished elementary schoolchildren at St. Anthony School in East Oakland. It matches volunteer parish donors with the basic clothing needs of individual students, many of whom attend school every day with ill-fitting or terribly-worn shoes, slacks, skirts, socks and other uniform clothes. The parents of these children are simply unable to afford what we would consider to be basic articles of clothing, so St. Monica parishioners donate the needed items to address this quiet tragedy. The concept is simple and uniquely personal. During the September through May school year, bulletin boards in both entrances to Church display 3x5 index cards with the first names and clothing needs of girls and boys at St. Anthony School. (Their principals and teachers tell us which children need help and specifically what item of clothing and what size they need.) Donors select a card of their choice, purchase the item (most of which can be acquired with a phone call and shipped directly to the parishioner's home), and return it the following week to the Shoes-That-Fit collection boxes beneath the bulletin boards. There are items to fit every budget, and it's a great way to engage the whole family-especially the children-in an easy-to-comprehend and truly meaningful act of charity. Lastly, the Shoes-That-Fit committee always welcomes any volunteers that wish to help with easy, discrete tasks that have a clear beginning and end. We're a fun-loving group that draws great personal satisfaction from helping these needy children. Contact: Kathi Balousek We offer opportunities to belong to a small group of eight to ten people in which to share faith, fellowship, and reflection on the Sunday scriptures. If you are interested in joining a group, please contact us. Contact: Parish Center at 925-376-6900 The St. Monica branch of this organization helps in caring for the physical

Everyone who takes part in the Eucharistic Celebration, beginning with the priest and including each individual parish member, shares the responsibility for creating the climate of hospitality and community, which is necessary for worship to flourish. Ushers make parishioners feel welcome and comfortable. Any parishioner interested in joining this ministry, please call Walter Nelson.
