Adopt-a-Family Holiday Program - Again this holiday season, the St. Monica community will join with Monument Crisis Center to help brighten Christmas for needy low-income families in our area. For more than 40 years, the Share the Spirit Program has provided the simplest holiday traditions for families. As in past years, St. Monica has 50 families this year - 25 families with 2 children and 25 families with 3 children. Each adopted family receives the following: 2 gifts for each family member under 18, one family gift and enough grocery gift cards for a nice holiday meal. Your gifts must be dropped off at the Church on the morning of December 5 to be delivered to the Monument Crisis Center.
Forms and program guidelines are available in the Parish Center and the Rectory Office.
Register today and leave the completed form in the designated box in the Parish Center or Rectory Offices or fax to (925.376.9796).

Soup to Serve -  (updated May 2010) In partnership with the Catholic Worker in Berkeley, we'll continue to serve the needy by providing brown bag lunches the third Friday of the month.  The homeless shelters and soup kitchens in the Berkeley area provide breakfast and dinner on the weekends, leaving a large gap between meals.  The lunches will be distributed on Saturdays.   Dates of service are May 21st, June 18th, July 16th, Aug 20th, Sept 17th and Oct 15th.  Learn more by contacting Mary Gabrielson at 925.631.9722 or mmajegbe@sbcglobal.net

Winter Nights Shelter - In cooperation with the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County, St. Monica will host the Winter Nights Shelter from December 6th-20th. We will open the Peace Center to provide a living and sleeping space for at-risk (families and seniors) homeless people in the East Bay area. We will provide meals, laundry services, homework assistance and other services. We need MANY volunteers to make this week meaningful for those being served: people to cook and serve dinner at night, people to spend the night (9pm-6am), people to help with laundry, and tutors for homework.

Youth Program - The St. Monica Youth Ministry offers middle school and high school students a variety of programs in which to participate that help serve local communities as Disciples of Christ.   Contact Rosa Kadera-Redmond at 925.376.6900 x305 or youth@stmonicamoraga.com for more details.
